On May 16, PAMF opened a new Sleep Disorders Center in Fremont to provide our East Bay patients with convenient access to the care they need to treat their sleep disorders and improve their health.

Kevin Gersten, M.D., Ph.D.
“More than 5 percent of the population suffers from sleep disorders that can significantly affect a person’s long-term health if they are not treated,” says Kevin Gersten, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of the new Fremont Sleep Center and board certified sleep medicine and ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist. “My dual certification allows me to provide comprehensive care, including behavioral, medical and surgical treatments for our East Bay patients with sleep disorders without the need for multiple referrals.”
“I’ve also had personal experience with sleep issues, so have unique insight into a variety of treatment options. Our team will be using our electronic health record system to ensure that each patient’s health care team is working together to not only treat sleep problems but prevent them.”

Features of the Fremont Sleep Disorders Center
The Fremont Sleep Disorders Center offers four sleep study suites. Each private room includes a Sleep Number bed that lets patients adjust the bed’s firmness and support according to their preference, en suite bathroom, widescreen LED TV and morning coffee to ensure a comfortable overnight stay. Currently, sleep studies are available for adult patients and there are plans to accommodate pediatric patients in the future.
What happens during a sleep study?
During the overnight study, technicians carefully observe patients during their sleep and monitor and record a variety of functions including eye movement, muscle activity, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, airflow from the nose and mouth, and movements of the chest wall and abdomen. With the findings from the study, the sleep disorder care team diagnoses sleep disorders including insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, sleepwalking, night terrors and narcolepsy.
The new Fremont Sleep Disorders Center is located adjacent to the Fremont Center’s Building II at39650 Liberty Street, third floor, Suite 300, Fremont, CA 94538.
