Save Lives – Give Blood This Year!
Posted on Jun 13, 2011 | 0 comments
There is no substitute for human blood. Much of today’s medical care depends on a steady supply of blood from healthy donors. Every three seconds, someone needs a blood transfusion. Whether it’s a premature infant, a child being treated for cancer, a father injured in a serious car accident, or an elderly woman needing heart surgery, everyday, hundreds of people in our communities need blood.
As a way to reach out to those in need, the Palo Alto Medical Foundation hosts blood drives throughout the year. Together with the Blood Centers of the Pacific, the PAMF Dublin Center has been hosting blood drives 2 -3 times per year for the last two years. The blood drives in Dublin have now totaled to 98 donors, which is equivalent to saving 294 lives! Many of our own staff and patients have become regular blood donors, as well as employees of our neighboring corporate offices and retail stores. It has become a community effort!
Donating blood is safe, simple and it saves lives. If you have a desire to “give back” to your community, please sign up to donate. Our next blood drive at the PAMF Dublin Center is Wednesday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To schedule your lifesaving appointment, go to www.bloodheroes.com. Click on “Donate Blood” and enter Sponsor Code: PAMF. Questions? Please contact Leilani Stone at 925-875-6150 or StoneL3@pamf.org. Each donor will receive a custom “Fear the Beard” BCP San Francisco Giants T-shirt.
