Presenting…Healthy Screenings Film Series
We have all heard the saying “you are what you eat.” But did you know that the Palo Alto Medical Foundation has created a free community film series that aims to help you understand what you are eating? This thought provoking series of films and engaging discussions are led in-person by PAMF family medicine physician and former film critic Dr. Ed Yu in Mountain View, and a group of PAMF doctors in Santa Cruz. The movies are shown monthly at the PAMF Mountain View Center and PAMF Santa Cruz hosts a monthly series (at the Louden Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz). We would love to have you join us at one of our upcoming movie nights!
The next “Healthy Screeings” in June are:
Wednesday, June 22 (Santa Cruz – Louden Nelsen Community Center Theater)
“What’s on Your Plate” – A witty and provocative documentary produced and directed by award-winning Catherine Gund about kids and food politics. Filmed over the course of one year, the film follows two eleven-year-old multi-racial city kids as they explore their place in the food chain.
Friday, June 24 in Mountain View (PAMF Mountain View Center)
“Good Food” – an intimate look at the farmers, rancers and businesses who are creating more sustainable food system in the Pacific Northwest.
Film screenings begin at 7 p.m. They are free and open to the community.
We have had great attendance and participation at the previous Healthy Screenings movie nights, and one of our enthusiastic participants had this to say about the series:
“Thank Goodness for Dr Yu and his film series! While the movies are informative, and at times, quite provocative, it’s the lively discussions post-movie that activate the brain cells. I have also taken Jeremy’s mantra to heart and purchased organic, minimally processed foods when ever I can. (Vote with your dollars.) And of course, Mountain View’s Farmers market on Castro is always a fun place to be on Sunday mornings.”
