Introducing the New PAMF Blog

Posted on May 9, 2011 | 12 comments

Welcome to the new Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) blog. We hope this new space creates a forum to share health information with the community in new and interesting ways. Our physicians and staff look forward to providing perspective, health tips and sharing with you. Please check back often because we will regularly post articles on a variety of health topics – designed to keep you and your family informed, educated and ready to be active partners in your health and health care team!

In this health-oriented blog, we will also highlight ways we partner with organizations in the community to enhance and serve the well-being of the people in our community through compassion, excellence in health care services, innovation and health education – which are at the heart of our mission, vision and values as a not-for profit health organization.

We also invite you to connect with us on our Facebook and Twitter social networking sites. You can watch videos on our YouTube channel, and keep up on the latest news in our online PAMF newsroom. You can easily subscribe to this new blog by clicking on the orange RSS feed button at the top right of the page – and please feel free to share articles you find interesting or helpful with your families and friends.

  2. Can we ask medical questions on this blog?

    • Hi Colette,

Thanks for your question! Although we are discussing general health and wellness news and information here on this blog, this blog will not be addressing specific patient medical issues or provide personalized medical advice. If you have a specific medical question, please contact your doctor directly and if you are a PAMF patient and participate in MyHealthOnline, you can email your PAMF doctor directly with your question/s. Thank you for visiting our blog and for your comment!

  3. Can Fish oil (Omega 3) capsules, taken daily, be a substitute for Statins to fight high cholesterol or prevent it?

    • Hi Broncha,

Thank you for your comment. Although this blog will be featuring news and information on a variety of health topics, it will not be answering patient-specific health questions that would best be addressed individually with the patient and health care provider. If you are a PAMF patient and use MyHealthOnline, you can email your doctor with this question directly. If not, you can ask your doctor at your next medical appointment. Since you asked about this subject, we will also keep it in mind for a future blog post idea.

Thanks again for reading the blog and commenting!

  4. What is the latest information that exists about autologous stem cell injection therapy for the treatment of hip pain? Is this a treatment that you offer at Palo Alto Medical Foundation? Thank you.

  5. Thank you for this information.
Please include me by email, when you post.

    • Thank you – we will add your email address to the PAMF e-newsletter, which will link directly to the blog with each issue. You may also subscribe to this blog by clicking the upper right-hand corner of the blog on the orange RSS feed button to receive new posts automatically. Thanks again for visiting the blog and for your comment!

  6. I have been associated with the PAMF for 4 and one-half years. I have communicated with Dr. John Boggs and several other doctors many times, but I cannot find out how to do that now. Can you help me now?

I used to use “munro” and “CVD-LDC”, but I would like to change that.

  7. I certainly hope this is not going to replace the snail mail communication as we don”t do facebook, twitter, etc.

    • Thank you for your comment. Yes, if you currently subscribe to the PAMF e-newsletter, you will still receive the e-newsletter via email in your inbox regularly.

The above was my comment and I was told it “is awaiting moderation”, whatever THAT means !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
